ASSA ABLOY has developed the EcoLOGIC AI algorithm, which adapts the operation of automatic doors. According to the company, energy savings can reach up to 14,000 kWh per year. For comparison, the average annual electricity consumption for a household in Ukraine in 2020 was 2,016 kWh.
EcoLOGIC uses the Internet of Things (IoT) to smoothly adapt automatic doors to environmental conditions such as temperature and weather. The doors can adjust the opening and closing speed, as well as the time they remain open. The system’s AI also learns from pedestrian movement patterns and adapts door functions, which is particularly beneficial during peak hours.
The company expects the system to become popular in shopping centers and office buildings. EcoLOGIC prevents excessive opening and closing of doors, extending the lifespan of mechanical components.
EcoLOGIC is compatible with ASSA ABLOY SL500 and RECORD STA20 door systems.
ASSA ABLOY has calculated that, for example, for retail spaces with a single entrance, the payback period for EcoLOGIC could be as short as six months.
It's worth noting that automatic doors are accessible for people with limited mobility, and entrance doors to public buildings must be automated.
