At the annual press conference, the management of ift Rosenheim presented the institute’s new development direction — the creation of an international network of test centres for building products. According to the institute’s director, Dr Jochen Peichl, the project aims to make testing more accessible and faster for manufacturers in different parts of the world.
ift-TestPoint includes not only the institute’s own laboratories but also partner testing facilities equipped with installations developed by the subsidiary company ift MessTec GmbH. The results of tests carried out in such centres are recognised by ift Rosenheim on an equal footing with those conducted at the headquarters in Rosenheim.
“We are building a model where clients have access to a complete testing infrastructure — with our equipment, our methods, and our accuracy requirements. It is essentially an extension of ift beyond Rosenheim,” Peichl noted.
MessTec, which has operated under the ift brand for more than ten years, manufactures testing rigs for windows, façades, doors, and glass. Thanks to this company, ift can not only carry out tests but also design and build its own testing systems — from air-water-wind rigs to acoustic and façade installations.
In Ukraine, two laboratories have received equipment from ift MessTec GmbH that enables the determination of air permeability, watertightness, and wind load. The “BM-Test” laboratory from Rivne has already joined European interlaboratory comparative testing.
In 2024, the institute recorded a record turnover of 26.4 million euros, partly due to contracts for the delivery of entire testing centres.
ift also continues to strengthen its international presence: the institute has gained recognition in the United States in the field of building physics, has become a fire-testing laboratory for the International Maritime Organization (IMO), and is developing the Global Market Access programme, which allows companies to obtain certification for several regions simultaneously.
