EFI Group announced the signing of an agreement with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), which will help the company build in Ukraine a modern NovaSklo float glass plant. The cooperation focuses on supporting project preparation and strengthening institutional capacity.
NovaSklo, part of EFI Group, considers flat glass production a key contribution to reconstruction. IFC will assist NovaSklo with feasibility studies and risk assessments. The team is also working on implementing international sustainability practices to enable further long-term financing.
Investments in the construction of the glass plant are estimated at EUR 250 million, which will create more than 300 jobs. The new plant will offer opportunities for local suppliers, logistics and related sectors, and will also reduce dependence on glass imports.
“The support of IFC is an important signal of confidence in Ukrainian investment projects. Together with our partners, we are bringing in global expertise to build a strong construction materials industry in Ukraine,” said Igor Liski, founder of EFI Group.
The plant in Kyiv Oblast will operate under IFC’s Sustainability Framework. This ensures compliance with environmental, labour protection, safety and social responsibility standards.
“Ukraine demonstrates resilience and strong recovery potential. NovaSklo shows that Ukrainian entrepreneurs are ready to create modern production facilities even in challenging conditions,” said Ines Rocha, IFC Regional Director for Europe and Moldova.
Earlier, NovaSklo signed a technical agreement with Nippon Sheet Glass Group to receive support in implementing advanced production technologies.
After completing the preparatory stage, the company plans to attract long-term financing, with IFC becoming a key partner in mobilising funds.
