The Ukrainian Manufacturers of Transparent Structures (UMTS) plans to consider establishing a training and practical centre for installers of transparent structures in Boryspil in 2027. Mykhailo Orlenko, Executive Director of UMTS, announced this during the association’s General Meeting.
UMTS had previously planned to establish a training and practical centre in Chernivtsi in 2027. However, UMTS member companies have independently become involved in developing the training facilities. Vikna Styl Trading and MIROPLAST (WDS brand) plan to upgrade a training classroom for installers and assemblers.
The classroom will operate at the Chernivtsi Vocational Construction Lyceum. The institution has already begun enrolling school-leavers who have completed Year 11 for the vocational programme ‘Installer-assembler of metal-plastic structures’. The classroom upgrade is expected to be completed before the start of the academic year.
According to Mykhailo Orlenko, when selecting the next city, UMTS also took into account changes to the system for validating professional qualifications. The Committee on Education, Science and Innovation reported that from 2027, graduates of vocational colleges will take qualification examinations at independent qualification centres.
For the Kyiv training and practical centre, this raises the question of where its graduates will undergo assessment for the professional qualification of installer of transparent structures. Boryspil is therefore one of the next locations being considered by UMTS. The association plans to cooperate with a local vocational college there.
The WindowED Academy training and practical centre in Kyiv opened this year at the Kyiv Vocational College of Civil Engineering. The centre will train installers of window and door structures, as well as specialists in the installation of ventilated curtain wall façades and transparent structures. The training programme includes practical training at companies. The college is currently enrolling school-leavers who have completed Year 9.
Ukrainian Manufacturers of Transparent Structures plans to open another WindowED Academy training and practical centre in Dnipro at the end of 2026. It will operate at the Dnipro Vocational College of Technology.
