Metal plank panels in Ukraine were introduced before Alucobond composite plates appeared. Rannila (now Ruukki) was the first company to present this product with all technical solutions, including subsystem selection and installation instructions. For ten years, metal panels were made with PVDF paint, with a thickness of 0.9 to 1.1 mm and a zinc content of at least 220 grams, which, in combination with high-quality substructure materials, fasteners and competent installation work on the hinged ventilated facade, ensured guaranteed operation for at least 50 years. Starting from 2020, when stiff competition with composite aluminum panels and ceramic granite slabs arose, the market for the use of such panels has shrunk to budget infrastructure facilities and commercial buildings (warehouses, logistics, factory workshops). To reduce the cost, the panels are manufactured only with a PE (polyester) coating, with a metal thickness of 0.4 mm to 0.7 mm with a zinc coating of up to 140 grams. There is also an economy on the subsystem due to less galvanizing. The disadvantages of such a facade are traditionally associated with the cladding material itself, i.e. there are. metal and appear quite quickly after the object is handed over: rust, burnout of the coating, an uneven flatness of the panel (the metal cannot be smooth a priori). Nevertheless, on large objects, the price of panels creates a noticeable difference with the closest materials in terms of cost.
