Gretsch-Unitas has designed the P2301 upper guide for lift-and-slide systems, making it easy to install and remove. This simplifies the assembly process and offers advantages in terms of time and cost.
The P2301 consists of two stainless steel guides that move along an anodized aluminum track using plastic rollers on ball bearings. This design ensures minimal noise during operation.
The assembly of lift-and-slide sashes often requires significant effort and time. The sash must first be inserted into the upper guide and then aligned perpendicularly with the threshold for installation. With the new GU guide, the installer only needs to place the sash on the threshold and tilt it upwards. According to the manufacturer, it’s important that the handle is turned upwards and the sash is in the lowered position. The installer then aligns the sash in the middle of the track and secures it with the new guide. The rear lower cover also serves as a cap for the slot where the carriages are installed.
A bonus is that the sash doesn’t need to be removed for potential repairs. It just needs to be slightly tilted to access the guide rail, although the sash should be secured to prevent it from falling out.
Meanwhile, the hardware brand Winkhaus has taken a different approach by introducing the universal primePort series, which allows the production of tilt-slide, turn-slide, or lift-and-slide windows and doors.
