At the VITRUM 2025 exhibition, the Finnish company Glaston Corporation, a manufacturer of glass processing equipment, showcased its patented method of producing insulating glass units using ultra-thin glass. The Glaston ULTRA TPS® technology enables the production of double glazing with a central pane only 0.5 mm thick. The ultra-thin central glass is well protected thanks to secure positioning and complete encapsulation in the secondary sealing layer.
Due to the reduced thickness, these insulating glass units are lighter, easier to install and compatible with most window profiles. In Europe, compact double glazing is now being considered as a replacement for existing single glazing. Manufacturers can also use them in new construction. In addition, the technology makes it possible to produce triple glazing with thin glass.
The Glaston MUNTIN'MASTER technology automates the installation of spacer bars in insulating glass units. This replaces manual work, increasing precision and efficiency.
According to the manufacturer, Glaston ULTRA TPS can be used for producing both conventional and thin insulating glass units.
Previously, OKNA.ua reported that an automatic production line for insulating glass units with ultra-thin glass and the warm edge spacer Super Spacer is ready to enter the European market.
