The ift Rosenheim has produced installation guidelines in English. The RAL quality association of window and facade manufacturers has also published these instructions.
The new "Installation guideline for windows and external pedestrian doors" and "Installation guideline for curtain walls" take into account changes in thermal insulation and energy saving, sound insulation, and joint sealing. As noted in the ift, the instructions for the application of burglar-resistant building elements are most relevant.
The innovative two-stage installation with preliminary frames has been included in a new chapter. It is marked as a variant with significant advantages.
Examples of the installation of structures with barrier-free thresholds have been added to the practical implementations. The described examples are suitable for temperate climates (Central European or similar) and rooms with a standard indoor climate.
Following the normative changes, all thermal calculations have been redone: isotherm, Psi values (heat loss), and temperature factor fRsi.
The installation guidelines contain corrections that were made to the German version in 2020 or 2022. The manuals contain scientifically based installation principles. According to ift Rosenheim experts, the manuals are a must-read for builders and designers who want to install building elements professionally.
