The market is developing toward digitisation and networking in security technologies. In addition, the building is increasingly being considered in terms of security, energy efficiency, comfort and health as a whole.
In 2022, sales:
- Fire alarms grew by 6.3% to €2.44 billion.
- Voice alarm systems remained at their level with a turnover of €130 million.
- Video systems grew by 6.6% to €746 million.
- Access control systems grew by 8.1% to €454 million.
- Detention and burglar alarm systems grew by 1.8% to €891 million. However, the suspension of KfW grants may affect the amount of burglary protection for private homes.
- Smoke and heat removal systems, including natural ventilation, increased to EUR 176 million. However, the number of escape doors, emergency call systems and other components decreased slightly. Therefore, this block has an overall increase of 2.5%.
As housing construction is expected to decline in Germany in the future, this could make things difficult for security technology. The security association ZVEI also says there is a shortage of skilled workers in the industry.
However, according to the ZVEI, from January to May 2023, the revenue of the German electrical and digital industry totalled EUR 98.9 billion. This figure exceeded last year’s by 13.5%.
In the first five months of 2023, industrial exports increased by 9.7% to €105.2 billion compared to the previous year. Imports to Germany totalled €112.7 billion, up 12.8% year-on-year.
