The world of windows in a transitional period: What will be discussed at the Rosenheim Window Days 2025

ift Rosenheim has announced that the autumn Rosenheim Window Days 2025 will be held under the motto “The world of windows in a transitional period.” The event will bring together industry professionals to discuss new challenges in the construction and window markets.

Climate change, the rise of artificial intelligence, demographic shifts and economic uncertainty are all influencing the construction industry and window production in particular. In this context, the sector stands at a crossroads — to adapt to new demands and continue its development.

From 8 to 9 October 2025, the Rosenheimer Fenstertage will gather specialists, profile system manufacturers, experts in energy-efficient glazing, façade construction and legal regulations to explore how the window market can respond to the challenges of our time. The programme includes more than 20 practical presentations and thematic blocks on digitalisation, circular economy, climate resilience, European regulation, and window installation.

Professor Winfried Heusler, institutional director of ift Rosenheim, will open the conference with an analysis of the technical and societal shifts already affecting the façade and window industry. Key speakers will include Roland Sitzberger of Porsche Consulting, Professor Manfred Fischedick from the Wuppertal Institute, offering an optimistic outlook on the future, and Professor Christian Niemöller, who will outline important legal developments for the sector.

A particular focus will be given to the practical aspects of transitioning towards a circular economy. Norbert Sack from ift will present research on new models for reusing glass components, while Professor Martin Teich will demonstrate how to implement ReUse, ReFurbish and ReManufacture principles in practice. Professor Alexander Stolz will discuss how to evaluate the economic feasibility of climate actions in projects.

Notably, EU Regulation (EU) 2024/3110 has already come into force, requiring manufacturers of construction products to declare the environmental impact of their products over their entire life cycle.

A separate session will focus on digital products, especially the future of the digital product passport and the creation of a digital construction ecosystem.

During the Power Workshop for window companies, ift experts will demonstrate how to avoid common installation errors, optimise on-site logistics, safely dismantle old structures, and implement new technical standards. A new format, the “Professional workshop for executives,” will offer practical tools for leading teams during times of change, staff shortages, and Generation Z challenges.

International topics will include examples of bamboo use in façade construction, characteristics of the French market, and adapting to updated EN 14351-1 standards. The final day of the event will feature guided tours of the ift Rosenheim laboratories, where participants can observe new testing in acoustics, façades, and installations.
