The Austrian company Lisec has won the BF Nachhaltigkeitspreis (Sustainability Award of the German Federal Association of the Glass Industry) in the “Production” category. The distinction was awarded to the IGD-A system for the safe and simple cutting of insulating glass units.
The IGD-A system consists of a specially developed oscillating blade and an attachment for the FEIN Multimaster tool. It is available in two versions — manual and automatic.
The manual version, IGD-A/manual, operates as follows. First, the maximum cutting depth is set using a quick-release clamp. The blade is then inserted between the glass and the spacer. The tool is subsequently guided easily along the glass edge thanks to guide rollers. The vibrating blade in combination with the FEIN Multimaster ensures a clean cut without damaging the visible glass surface.
For cutting flexible spacers, the cutting height can be adjusted using additional vertical guide rollers.
The system can be used by all companies manufacturing insulating glass units. It is suitable for cutting new IGUs, repairing existing ones, or reworking complex façade insulating glass units. The manufacturer notes that operating the system requires minimal effort and is suitable even for inexperienced workers.
The automatic version of the system operates with a robotic arm. It is positioned in front of a vertical glass transport system and automatically separates the edges. Thanks to a special glass detection system, the cut is performed precisely along the edge. The system processes glass sizes starting from 500 × 500 mm. The maximum size is limited only by the reach of the robotic arm or the length of the transport line.
