Saint-Gobain Glass has announced the launch of COOL-LITE® SKL 170 for complex façades. The company has presented a new solar control coating for laminated glass.
COOL-LITE® SKL 170 features a selective coating. It is positioned on surface 2, facing the interlayer. The letter L indicates suitability for lamination.
It contains two silver layers. According to the company, the coating allows more than 70% light transmission. At the same time, the glass reduces solar heat gain.
The product is intended for Double Skin Façade (DSF) systems and Close Cavity Façades designed for blinds or solar shading screens. In such systems, overheating often occurs within the cavity. The sun heats the blinds and façade elements. COOL-LITE® SKL 170 reduces heat build-up in the façade cavity. This helps preserve the blinds and reduce the load on ventilation systems.
COOL-LITE® SKL 170 is available on ORAÉ® low-carbon glass. The coating maintains a neutral appearance at different viewing angles. It also offers a low level of reflection.
The glass is suitable for other applications as well. It is used in rooflights and glazed roofs. The glass provides solar protection while maintaining natural daylight. The product can also be used in entrance areas and canopies. It reduces glare and overheating. It is also specified for railway stations and atriums.
The glass brand Guardian Glass has also expanded its bird-friendly glass range with an almost invisible pattern.
