Schüco has entered into a partnership with Saint-Gobain Glass Deutschland to accelerate the recycling of glass from old buildings in Germany. This was announced by the press office of Schüco International KG. The companies are working to bring used glass back into circulation and to cooperate in the reuse of materials.
The partnership aims to reduce resource consumption, CO₂ emissions, and the overall environmental impact of construction. According to Schüco, the company is returning all components to circulation – not just the aluminium or plastic profiles it manufactures, but also glass.
Saint-Gobain Glass is actively engaged in the collection and reuse of flat glass. The company produces low-carbon glass, including the ORAÉ range, and is implementing less energy-intensive production processes. Recycled glass requires less energy to melt, which lowers the consumption of natural resources such as sand, soda ash, and limestone, and helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Saint-Gobain states that its cooperation with Schüco will increase the share of recycled glass in production and bring the company closer to its goal of producing carbon-neutral glass.
Meanwhile, AGC Energypane has launched a pilot glass collection programme in Belgium.
