At Rosenheim Window Days 2025 they discussed how the window industry can navigate the biggest transformation in decades

During the 52nd conference on windows and façades in Rosenheim, experts emphasised that the industry is undergoing the most extensive changes in many years, and companies need to act quickly and strategically.
ift Rosenheim announced a profound transformation within the window industry.

In his opening speech, the director of ift Rosenheim, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Winfried Heusler, outlined the key factors influencing the market: climate change, demographic shifts, rising construction costs, political instability and the development of AI. He stressed the need to move towards a circular economy — with longer product lifecycles, reuse and material recovery. According to him, those who adapt first will gain a strategic advantage.

A similar position was expressed by Roland Sitzberger of Porsche Consulting. He noted that the construction sector is forced to rapidly change production processes due to labour shortages, high energy costs and a lack of housing. The only way to stay competitive is digitalisation, supply chain optimisation and deeper cooperation between companies.

Prof. Dr. Manfred Fischedick of the Wuppertal Institute highlighted that the window industry plays an important role in the EU's climate policy. He called energy-efficient building renovation and the shift to circular material use the foundation of a sustainable economy.

An analysis of the German market was presented by the associations VFF and BF. According to their data, the main volume of work is concentrated on the modernisation of the existing building stock, while recovery of the new-build sector is not expected before 2026 — together with the launch of new state support programmes.

Rosenheim Window Days 2025 outlined the main challenges that will affect the industry in the coming years: climate and demographic changes, political risks, rising construction costs, housing shortages and the development of AI.
According to experts, the market is entering a phase of profound transformation that requires a shift to new models of production, sales and product management.
