The European window industry is diversifying its alternative energy sources. The hardware brand Roto has opened a biomass heating plant in Austria. According to the company, this will reduce annual CO2 emissions by 2160 tons.
For the Roto Group, this is the first biomass heating plant. It has an operational capacity of 4 MW. The station was installed in collaboration with the Austrian Bioenergie Group.
The biomass station complements three independent hydroelectric power plants, a rooftop photovoltaic system, and an open-space photovoltaic installation, which were previously installed at the Roto Kalsdorf plant. The total capacity of the solar installations is 90 kW.
As noted by the Roto Group, one of the company's largest factories for the production of window and door hardware is no longer dependent on external sources for space heating or technical water heating. Its heat supply is now carbon-neutral.
