After 2025, it will be possible to export to the UK construction products with the UKCA mark. The mark can base on data provided by a UK approved body. Products that have a CE mark or other European certificate will need to retest.
Following Brexit, England was due to end recognition CE marking for construction products on 31 December 2022. However, the government allowed importers of construction products to obtain the UKCA mark without retesting. If these products had been inspected by an EU recognised notified body. This measure was in place until 1 January 2023. However, the government has continued to recognition CE marking until 30 June 2025. And obtaining the UKCA mark for European construction materials after 2025 didn't define clearly.
The Office of Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has stated "that UKCA marking should only be affixed to products tested by a UK approved body".
Previously, Glass for Europe noted that the UK lacks its own testing capabilities and facilities. As one way of addressing this, the UK's BSI signed an agreement with ift Rosenheim. And the results of the ift tests can be submitted to obtain the UKCA mark.
