AGB controls the number of spare keys with the new cylinder

The Italian manufacturer of door and window fittings, AGB, has introduced a new cylinder with a patented key that prevents unauthorized duplication. Only AGB can produce the blanks and distribute them through authorized AGB Genio Points. To make a duplicate, the customer must present the key along with a security card. However, there are currently no manufacturer-authorized duplication centers in Ukraine.

With this emphasis on security, AGB has refined the door cylinder.
In the event of a twisting attempt, the cylinder is designed to break in a controlled manner to remove the burglar's hook while retaining the functional core. Hardened steel inserts protect the cylinder from drilling. The device also includes protection against picking and bumping, ensuring prolonged resistance to both types of attacks. When the key is removed, the code cannot be read due to the shape of the pins. A large number of pins guarantees millions of different key combinations.

According to the company, the Genio is certified to the highest level of protection against the most common types of burglary as per EN 1303:2015.

Also: Winkhaus has proposed using a smartphone as the key to the front door.

For reference:
EN 1303:2015 "Building hardware - Cylinders for locks - Requirements and test methods" defines the highest class of resistance to burglary — class D:
  • 5 to 10 minutes of resistance against drilling attacks;
  • Resistance to chisel attacks — 40 strikes;
  • Resistance to twisting — 30 turns;
  • Resistance to pulling out the cylinder mechanism with a force of 15 kN for 5 to 10 minutes.
