NSG Group has announced the suspension of one of the two float glass production lines at its plant in Gladbeck, Germany, effective January 2025. This decision is driven by weak demand for glass in Germany and Europe as a whole and follows a previous company announcement in March regarding the closure of another float glass line in Weiherhammer.
NSG Group hopes for a recovery in the European market in the medium to long term, but the exact timing for a potential production restart remains uncertain. The line suspension will result in more than 100 job cuts.
Pilkington Deutschland AG, NSG Group’s German subsidiary, is working with employee representatives to ensure a transparent and fair process throughout the implementation.
