The first Rosenheim Window Days began as technical lectures. In 1973, the first director of ift Rosenheim, Erich Seifert, utilized the annual general meetings. His "Institute's Annual Report" was accompanied by presentations from five institute employees on relevant work areas. Afterward, innovations in event organization and themes were continuously introduced.
This year, the industry meeting had the theme "Climate. Safe. Building," as climate change remains one of the most pressing challenges of our time. According to ift Rosenheim, there is "no alternative" to reducing CO2 emissions in existing buildings through better insulation and heating technologies, even if rising costs, a shortage of skilled workers, and a decrease in new constructions may seem more relevant.
The focus of the event was on adapting buildings to extreme climatic conditions, such as tornadoes, floods, and heatwaves. It explored which windows and doors offer better protection against heavy rains, floods, hail, and hurricanes.
This focus was complemented by practical advice:
- Optimizing energy consumption of existing windows.
- Criteria for deciding on window replacement or modernization in energy-efficient building renovations.
- New developments in methods for testing building sound insulation.
- Solutions for preventing bird collisions with large glass facades.
